What makes a correction easy to act on
None of this is required. It is just the difference between a message we can check today and one that sits waiting for a reply asking which page you meant.
- The page it is on — the full address helps
- The exact figure or sentence you are questioning
- The source that says something different, if you have one
- Which UK nation you are asking about, where it matters

We check the source
Against the register, scheme or statistic the figure came from, not against our own notes.
We change the page
If the source disagrees with us, the page changes and carries the date it was checked.
